Jr. Gulls-Ice Town La Jolla Rink Collaboration Announcement
April 21, 2012
This Merge and Collaboration will evolve the already established development and growth of the players/teams in San Diego and California. The San Diego Jr. Gulls Hockey Club is the largest and most successful program in San Diego and one of the top programs in California, with some of the most respected professional coaches in the Pacific District. The Jr. Gulls have been in existence for over 40 years and emphasize player development and character growth on and off the ice, continuously move players on to Juniors and NCAA. This past year, Jr. Gulls Alumni played Junior A and Major Juniors in the USHL, NAHL, and the WHL. We had multiple players commit to play NCAA Division I Hockey for Harvard University. Alumni represented their country on the USA 17u Team. Finally, we had a player sign a pro-contract with the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres.
San Diego Jr. Gulls-La Jolla Jaguars MergeDuring the last two decades, the La Jolla Jaguars Hockey Club has been a prominent member of the San Diego hockey community and a common starting-off point for aspiring young players. In recent years the Jaguars have experienced significant growth with its travel hockey program culminating in a total of 5 SCAHA teams this past season. As a purely volunteer run organization, the success of the Jaguars would not have happened without the unwavering support and commitment of the coaches, managers and parents all of whom had the same goal of providing an excellent hockey experience for the Jaguar players. With this continued goal as a primary objective the Jaguars have decided to merge into the San Diego Jr. Gulls Hockey Club and going forward will play under the Jr. Gulls banner. This merger of two like-minded organizations will help to elevate the level of play available to hockey players in the area. This is an exciting time for youth hockey in San Diego and the Jr. Gulls are leading the way.
San Diego Jr. Gulls-Ice Town La Jolla Collaboration
The Jr. Gulls and Ice Town La Jolla (rink in Westfield UTC mall) collaboration will focus on developing entry-level players and their eventual graduation into the Jr. Gulls Club. The overall quality of hockey players from San Diego will also increase with the Iceoplex Penguins (in-house) and Ice Town La Jolla (in-house) both advancing their younger exceling players to Club hockey with the San Diego Jr. Gulls.
The evolved Jr. Gulls Club will enhance the player, parent, and family experience. We will now be in the top 5 of California for all travel hockey Clubs in ice time capabilities for their players/teams with 3 ice sheets in San Diego. In the 2011-2012 season, we started with great team/player success our model of 4 hours of ice for AA and 3 hours of ice for A/B a week and the once a week goalie only development session with our Goalie Academy Coaches. All included in the season dues of $2,200-$2,600 for A/B and $3,500 for AA. This collaboration will allow the Jr. Gulls to build upon its success with even more development time for the players/teams and continued value in the future.
We anticipate you will be as excited as we are with this announcement and development for San Diego Hockey. We look forward to the addition of these new players and families into our Jr. Gulls Family. For information on the Jr. Gulls 2012-2013 coaches/teams, Spring/Summer development programs, and tryouts, please visit our website at jrgullshockey.com.
