CONGRATULATIONS JR GULLS PEEWEE A and BANTAM B!!  What a weekend these 2 teams had!  Both advance to the SCAHA semi finals this weekend in their home rink at Iceoplex-Escondido!

Coach Kevin Armbruster lead his team through the first round of SCAHA playoffs in Riverside this past weekend as our Bantam’s faced the Wild for an 8-0 win early Saturday morning. 

Saturday afternoon, as the clouds rolled in and the hail drenched the streets of southern California, Coach Kevin and his Bantams faced the tough Valencia Express in a close hard fought game. The Jr Gulls were down 3-2 with less than a minute left in the 3^rd period. Tension rose and thunder struck when Coach Kevin pulled his goalie and the Jr Gulls buried the puck to take the game into OT.  2 overtime periods later the game ended in a tie, giving each team 1 point going into their final games.

Taking on the Kings on Sunday our Bantams had to win to knock the Express out of the round robin and gain the #1 seed for the Semi’s. The stands roared with King and Express families hoping for an SD loss. The LA Jr Kings came out hard and fast and scored early.  Our boys answered that goal and the following 3 with unwavering determination. Down by a goal twice, these SD boys fought back walked away with a final victory! 

The Peewee A Jr Gulls began their weekend Saturday morning against the 3^rd place Redwings in Bay Harbor. The home ice advantage was yanked from the Redwings when their zamboni broke down and the game was immediately transferred to the Lakewood arena. Pierre Dufour and his relentless Peewee’s brought their ‘A’ game and shocked the crowd with a 5-2 victory!  The Peewee's pulled off an even bigger upset the next morning by out-skating, out-hitting, out-passing, and out-shooting the very tough 2nd place Blackhawks(1) team.  Final score, 2-1 Jr Gulls. 

Quickly earning respect throughout SoCal, the final game was a showdown against the tough Blackhawks(2) team.  Nothing comes easy for our SD boys, they’d need to step it up to sweep the playoffs for the #1 seed….and they did!!  Regulation ended in a 0 - 0 tie, but the boys fought off fatigue and scored the winning goal of a perfect weekend during the second overtime period.  Congratulations to the Peewees for pulling off three huge upsets and advancing to the SCAHA semifinals!!

Another big weekend starts Saturday at 3:30pm as our Bantam’s face their rival from Bakersfield and Sunday our Peewee’s fight for a spot in the Championship game against LAHC at 10:30am.  Come on out to Iceoplex and join the fun and support your Jr Gulls players!
