-We’re thrilled to welcome John Paris, Jr. to head our Midget AAA Team and give our local boys a reason to stay home!  John and his wife, Stephanie, will be arriving in San Diego within a month and he’s looking forward to getting on the ice with the Midgets shortly thereafter. 

 

 

-Another new addition to our Gulls Family is Jay Hebert for our 05/06 Midget AA Team!  You’ll have a chance to meet Jay soon as we are organizing the rest of our summer clinics.  We’re excited to have John and Jay lead our top teams. 

 

 

-We’re proud to have Kevin Brown return as our Midget A/B Coach.

 

 

-Our Bantam AA Major Team will be lead by Bruce Miller

 

 

-We’ll be fielding a Bantam AA Minor Team lead by our Hockey Director, Larry Cahn

Midget AAA: John Paris, Jr.: 
John has decided to return to development hockey after spending last season in the professional ranks, his direction of thought is to help develop hockey youths by teaching the needs and why of implication and execution to become a top notch performer, to be able to advance to their full potential as talent is not enough , he will not tell you necessarily what you want to hear but he will tell what you need to hear , San Diego is his choice and he has always stated this since his IHL days, “one day I am going to return here to coach elite youth hockey.

John has been a professional hockey educator cumulating more than 30 years experience in the field as a Coach, General Manager, scout, personal trainer, teacher and key-note speaker.  John has been recognized for excelling behind the bench as well as in development training, team building and overall achievement of his teams.  Perfectionist to the core, though patient, known to respond well under stress, always very involved with players.

As a player he played within the prestigious Montreal Canadian Chain as a junior recruited by Scotty Bowman.

John has guided his teams to numerous championships, including the prestigious Air Canada Cup Emblem of Canadian supremacy at Midget AAA level. , Under 17

Esso cup, Turner cup IHL - Atlanta knights, (Tampa Bay Lightning top affiliate team). Was a member as head coach/gm within the Quebec major junior hockey league, members of the CHL.

John coached and helped prepare 11 first round NHL draft picks, was named coach of the year five times and numerous all star nominations. John has held the position of recruiter for the NHL St. Louis Blues.  He was inducted into the Nova Scotia heritage Hall of Fame

(Windsor, Nova Scotia) and holds the distinction of being the first Black head coach / Gm in the history of professional hockey.

Bantam A: TJ Reinsch:

T. J. Reinsch returns for his 3rd season with the Gulls.  The last 2 seasons, he has served as the Pee Wee A coach. 

 

Prior to moving to S. California in 2003, T. J. coached at the Bantam and Midget level in his hometown, Sioux City, IA for 5 seasons.  In 2001, T. J.'s Bantam AA squad qualified for the Central District Tier II Tournament.  After finishing his collegiate playing career, T. J. was a member of the coaching staff at Iowa State University for two seasons, serving as the head coach of the division II team and an assistant coach on the division I team.

 

T. J. played at ACHA Division I, Iowa State University and was a member of the 1992 National Championship team.

 

 

Peewee A: Pierre Dufour:

Pierre was born in Bedford, Quebec, played all of his youth hockey in that region.  He moved to Ottawa, Ontario to play Jr A hockey for two years.  From there he received a scholarship to The Ohio State University, NCAA Div. 1.  
After graduation he moved on to play 2 years in the minors in the U.S., one year in the Central Hockey League and the second in the West Coast Hockey League.  He then went oversees to finish his playing career.  He played two years in Denmark and the last one in Sweden.  
This past season he coached the Jr Gulls Squirt Team to the State Championship game.
